New Stationary Mixer for Anaerobic Digestion Units

Kuhn Farm Machinery has launched a new range of stationary forage mixers developed specifically for the growing AD (anaerobic digestion) market.

The Centramix range of stationary mixers has been developed for the anaerobic digester/biogas market and offers users access to the reliability and forage mixing accuracy associated with Kuhn’s established range of Euromix trailed and SP self-propelled mixer wagons.

The Centramix is available in 16 different sizes, with mixing capacity ranging from 8 to 27m3. A triple auger version is also available with a mixing capacity of 45m3. The mixers are also available in four different configurations with the auger motor and gearbox positioned at either the front, rear, left or right side. By offering such a wide range of sizes and formats, the Centramix can be customised to fit perfectly into existing farm buildings or purpose-built to suit new AD plant infrastructures.

The Centramix’s vertical mixing auger is driven by an electric motor which is available in three sizes ranging from 30 to 75kW, with the size of motor determined by the mixing volume and products to be mixed.

The drive unit uses a self-lubricating planetary gear train for added reliability, with the auger, walls and floor of the machine all constructed from stainless steel for prolonged machine durability. Adjustable, hardened steel knives and counter-knives work together for faster chopping and to produce a consistent, well-mixed feed.

The entire unit sits on a robust frame with adjustable legs, and uses built-in weigh cells to allow rations to be mixed to the nearest kilogram. Several chute options are available with VL models using a side chute and VC models using a central chute to dispense the mixed feed. A tilting chute can also be specified with outlet conveyors available in a range of lengths from 800 to 3,300mm.

“The UK is currently seeing a steady growth in the number of anaerobic
plants being installed,” explains Duncan McLeish, UK Sales Manager for Kuhn Farm Machinery. “As such, there is a growing demand for reliable mixers that can be used in situ to create a consistent and well mixed feed product for biogas production.

“The new Centramix features Kuhn’s characteristically robust construction and offers users the high levels of reliability typically associated with Kuhn’s existing range of mixer wagons.”
