Lazonby ‘Alston Moor’ Sale of Mule Gimmer Lambs

On Wednesday 1st October 2014 Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held the greatly anticipated annual Alston Moor sale of 17,597 Mule Gimmer Lambs within Lazonby Auction Mart.

The sale levelled out at a fantastic £101.84 (+£6.21) on the year leaving all vendors delighted with the day’s trading. The Lazonby Mart sale ring was packed from 9.30am to 8.20pm with buyers from the length and breadth of the UK keen to secure the fantastic offering of quality highly acclaimed breeding stock presented before them.

The pre sale judging took place on Tuesday evening & was supported by sponsors LA Livestock Scanning, Shearwell Data, Aspatria Farmer’s, Carr’s Billington, Harbro, AW Jenkinson Forest Products, H & H Insurance Brokers & Dodd & Co.  A fabulous entry of 21 pens was presented for the judges Mr B Ridsdale, Calthwaite; Mr R Evans, Towcester along with referee Mr A Walton, Haltwhistle to cast their expert eyes over.

After much deliberation the Championship Rosette along with the William Armstrong Memorial Cup was awarded to Messrs PL & J Dawson, Kentmere Hall with a very flash pen of 10, they later went on to top the sale at £400 each when selling to Mr J Walton, Hexham on behalf of a client

The late Jonty Stalker Memorial Trophy for the best consignment of 60 or more lambs was awarded to Messrs G R Wharton & Sons, Keisley by Judges Mr F Marshall & Mr T Addison,  Mr Wharton’s run of 213 lambs averaged £128.83.
