Zetor Shifts Up in Performance with the New Forterra HD

Traditional Czech manufacturer of agricultural technology, Zetor Tractors is expanding its range of modern tractors to include the new Forterra HD model.

For Zetor, its arrival marks a shift into the 150 horsepower performance category. It will also bring a number of constructional enhancements which tie in with the innovative technological solution of the Forterra HSX model, not only pushing it forward in terms of performance and safety, but also as far as comfort is concerned.

The main new technical feature of the Forterra HD is a wider wheelbase which has been increased by 130 mm (compared to the wheelbase of the Forterra HSX) enlarging it up to 2720 mm. This provides even better tractor stability than before.

The tractor engine has also undergone significant modernisation whereby the cylinder head has been modified to include four-valve technology. The engine also stands out with its high level of torque rise at 35%, excellent startability—even in unfavourable temperature conditions, and a long service life of up to 8000 engine hours.

For the Forterra HD, great attention has been paid to conducting research into noise and vibrations. This led to the development of constructional solutions allowing for noise levels at the 74 dB limit to be achieved. The tractor cab has also been enhanced to include new flooring which has considerably reduced the transmission of noise and vibrations inside the driver’s work area.

“Our goal is to consistently increase the tangible value of Zetor tractors, and the new Forterra HD model is one of the projects illustrating this. It doesn’t merely rank as the bigger brother to the existing Zetor Forterra HSX model but also a completely independent model in our offer. By including this model, we have also been able to expand our offer in terms of performance since the Forterra HD will also be available in the 150 horsepower category,” ZETOR TRACTORS a.s. Project Management Manager, David Kollhammer says.

The first to make its way to customers is the Forterra HD in the 130 and 140 horsepower performance categories. The anticipated launch of series production for this tractor is planned for the end of the first half of 2014.

The Zetor Forterra HD also boasts several new design features as part of the hinged fairing and security cab. These include separate remote as well as muted headlights with clear lens technology as well as ploughing headlights.

More detailed technical information
Additional technical enhancements to the Zetor Forterra HD include the following:

  • Front-drive axle with 100% shutter

  • An additional four-part hydraulics distributor with electro-hydraulic controls

  • An additional two-part hydraulics distributor for front three-point linkage and front terminals

  • New processing of the right multi-functional control panel in the cab

  • Suspended cab

In the case of the Forterra HD model, closure of the PTO clutch is dealt with in a new manner using a feedback controlled start-up (theoretical curve acceleration lasts just under 3 seconds). The tractor has also been reinforced with axle housing, and the axle itself has also been expanded. As such the tractor can withstand a greater load on the three-point hitch. Compared to the Forterra HSX model, the tractor mass is 30 kg lower (from 4850 kg with the Forterra HSX to 4820 kg). It is also possible to equip the tractor with a 120 l/min pump with variable delivery or alternatively a suspension front drive axle.
