Livestock exhibitors are reminded they have just a week before entries close on October 16th for this year’s English Winter Fair livestock showcase, Staffs County Showground, on Nov 16-17 which features new cattle and sheep classes and increased prize monies across many sections.
Kate Tomlinson, English Winter Fair show secretary, explains: “This year’s closing date is approaching fast. With several new classes including the Mature Beef class for animals over five years old sponsored by Pickstock Ashby I would urge exhibitors to get applications returned quickly.”

Cattle exhibitors are reminded that all stock must be pre-movement tested for bovine TB to attend the event. “In line with regulations introduced in 2012 all cattle must have a clear pre-movement test for bovine TB within the last 60 days before the show to attend,” explains Mrs Tomlinson. “Exhibitors are also being asked to ensure all cattle passports are up-to-date and available on arrival at the showground to assist the stewards.”
Other class changes this year see the introduction of a Single Lamb class in the Sheep Section and simplifying of Live Pig classes to pork weight (48-72kg) and bacon weight 73-93kg).
Entry schedules are available on-line. Alternatively, enquiries can be directed to Mrs Tomlinson on 01283 820012.
Visitor tickets remain £10/adult (£8 if booked before Nov 12) with accompanied under 16s free of charge.
