Busy Silotite Stand at 2015 FTMTA Show

The Silotite stand at the busy Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association show in Punchestown, Co. Kildare attracted a lot of attention from livestock farmers and baled silage contractors.

On display at the Farm Tractor and
Machinery Trade Association
(FTMTA) show was the Film & Film wrapping system for baled silage. Last year over 100,000 bales of silage were baled and wrapped by McHale fusion bale wrappers using this innovative forge conservation system.

This dual film technology involves the combined use of Baletite mantelfilm alongside the next generation of Silotite PRO Technology balewrap.

The sustainable mantle film replaces the traditional netwrap used to bind crops into a bale format.

While Silotite PRO Technology balewrap is a pre-stretched 5-layer wrapping film with more length leading to maximum efficiency.

The overall benefit is that this innovative system reduces the cost of making baled silage and delivers mould free silage for feeding to valuable livestock.

The Film & Film wrapping system is also more environmentally friendly as unlike netwrap all the film can be recycled without the need for segregation of the netwrap.

Excellent trial results have been obtained in Britain (data available on request) from Dr Dave Davies at Silage Solutions Ltd. and Dr. Padraic Kiely is currently assessing forage quality at Teagasc trials at Grange.
