Yorkshire Dales Meat Company Wins Best Catering Butcher Sausagemaker

Yorkshire Dales Meat Company outshone its catering butcher competitors in a public vote for the best sausage at The Camp Hill Estate Beer and Sausage Festival attended by former Foreign Secretary and current MP for Richmond, William Hague.

Yorkshire Dales Meat Company’s Caramelised Red Onion sausages finished second in the overall entirely independent public vote won by celebrated Bedale High Street butcher and sausage maker, Cockburn’s.

In finishing second, Yorkshire Dales Meat Company beat off competition from much fancied catering butcher rivals that had gone to great lengths to talk up their chances beforehand.

James Knox, Finance Director at Yorkshire Dales Meat Company, said: “We knew we had a really good sausage but we entered the competition to benchmark ourselves against other sausagemakers and without any expectation of winning.

“So, to finish ahead of all our catering butcher competitors in a public vote was absolutely fantastic, and gives us even greater confidence in our product.

“There’s no reason why we can’t improve our sausages still further and become outright winners in this and other competitions in the future.”

Yorkshire Dales Meat Company supplies a wide range of sausages - from traditional pork to chilli, and from wild boar to Swaledale rings - to restaurants, hotels, caterers, event venues and cafés across the North of England. Such was the demand for Yorkshire Dales Meat Company’s sausages and burgers that sales of those products shot up 150% during the Tour de France.
