Startling Results from Limousin V Stablisers Research to be Revealed

On Wednesday, September 10, AFBI hosts an AgriSearch Beef Farm Walk at the Large Park, Hillsborough, BT26 6DR.

Look out for some startling results at this event from the Limousin v Stablisers research by Dr Lively part funded by Ulster beef producers!

During the event AFBI researchers and CAFRE advisors will present results from ongoing research programmes funded through AgriSearch and DARD.

Formed by Ulster farmers in 1997 AgriSearch selects for pump priming support projects likely to improve returns from beef, lamb and milk production.

Visitors will have an opportunity to view the AFBI suckler herd which comprises both Stabiliser composite cows and Limousin cross Holstein cows and hear first hand how this suckler cow genotype comparison is progressing.

Other presentations will include:

  • Rearing suckler heifers to calf at 24 months

  • Managing suckler cow condition score

  • Grassland management for beef production systems

  • Options for rearing and finishing dairy origin beef

Tours will commence at 15 minute intervals from 1.30 – 2.30 pm and again from 5.30 - 6.30 pm and last 2 hours.
