Claas has the Right Mower Unit for Everyone
With the new MAX CUT cutterbar and a total of 28 new models ranging from linkage mounted units with a working width of 2.60m through to large-area mowers with working widths up to 9.10m and the option of swath groupers, CLAAS is entering a new mower unit dimension.
These successors to the tried-and-tested DISCO CONTOUR mower range have been completely redeveloped and are recognisable at first glance by their new design. Many details have been redeveloped or improved in close collaboration with those who use the mowers.
Claas Disco Mower
The new DISCO range will be available in TREND, CONTOUR, BUSINESS, AUTOSWATHER and DUO model versions, which differ in terms of the type of operation and equipment. With the DISCO 8500 TREND and DISCO 9200 TREND* (working width 8.10 – 9.10 m), CLAAS offers two entry-level models which are easy to pull, and have simple operation for medium-sized farms. From the CONTOUR series, with a total of six models, the DISCO 8500 (working width 8.10 m/8.30 m) and the DISCO 9200 (8.90 m/9.10 m) are being launched on the market. With both the DISCO 9200 BUSINESS and 9200 C BUSINESS mower units, a professional large-area mower combination is offered for large farms and farm contractors. The DISCO 9200 large-area mower is also available in the AUTOSWATHER version with swath grouping and the DISCO 9400 C DUO large area mower is available in a reverse drive version.
Along with the large-area mowers, the rear mowers and the trailed mower units have also been completely reworked. A total of ten CONTOUR rear mowers are available from the 2800, which has a working width of 2.60m, up to the 3.80m wide 4000, which have optional tine or roller conditioners depending on the model, so offering a wide range of models for small and medium-sized farms.
New details, such as the hydraulic transport catch now ensure that even smaller models offer a high level of comfort. There is also a new parking device, so that the mower unit can be safely stored in the transport and parking position and in a way which saves space. If the customer orders the parking device option with the additional rollers, their mower unit can be manoeuvred by hand easily and with little effort.
CLAAS is offering six new trailed mower models, the DISCO 3200 TC / TC AS / TRC, 3600 TC / TRC and 4000 TC, which have working widths from 3.00 to 3.80 m with the models. On mowers up to 3.40 m, an optional central drawbar is available, which can be adjusted without using tools and can be easily and conveniently adjusted to the tractor width. The DISCO 3200 TC AS also has a conveyor system for swath grouping.
New MAX CUT cutterbar with ACTIVE FLOAT
All new mower units from CLAAS,
as of 2015, will be equipped with the new MAX CUT cutterbar from Bad Saulgau.
The hydro-pneumatic ACTIVE FLOAT suspension, which is familiar from the previous
models in the CONTOUR model range, is also fitted to all new models. With the
tried-and-tested suspension system, the ground pressure on the mower unit can
be changed from the driver's seat when driving and adjusted to the field conditions.
The mower units in the BUSINESS model series and mowers with swath grouping (AUTOSWATHER)
and in the reverse (DUO) version, are controlled via comfort hydraulic system
(Load Sensing or Umlauf). This also enables active control of the ground pressure
directly via the ISOBUS control
terminal or the OPERATOR.
Avoiding collision damage
In order to prevent collision damage, the TREND and CONTOUR models are
protected by mechanical break-back lock. If this is triggered, the mower
unit moves backwards and up and is raised above the obstacle. To continue
driving, the machine must simply be reversed slightly until the mechanical
break-back lock is active again. The BUSINESS, AUTOSWATHER and DUO model
series have a hydraulic non-stop break-back lock as standard. This enables
the mower unit to swing back automatically without stopping.
Operation variants
An important difference between the five DISCO model series is their
operation.
The simpler TREND mower units are operated using the tractor control devices without the control terminal and can be incorporated into the tractor's headland management. The optional individual lifting function is operated using a ball valve, which makes it possible to pre-select the mowing units.
Mowers in the CONTOUR model range are operated using the tractor's control devices. The preselection is made using the OPERATOR control panel or the ISOBUS control terminal. BUSINESS and DUO mower units are completely controlled using Load Sensing and the OPERATOR or COMMUNICATOR II control panel and are ISOBUS-compatible, which means that the various machine functions can be assigned to function buttons on the tractor multi-function lever. The AUTOSWATHER model series is controlled using the COMMUNICATOR II control terminal and is also fully ISOBUS-compatible.
Useful details
The new mower units offer numerous innovations which will make everyday
work with the machine easier for customers. The coupling and uncoupling
has been significantly improved throughout the range thanks to details
such as lower link lugs, Kennfix® hydraulic couplers and optimised access
to the drive shafts. With AUTOSWATHER, a central lubrication system
is now available as an option.
