The championship went to Robert Towers, of Camp House Farm, Farleton, Lancaster, with a pair of January-born Beltex-cross-Charollais twin lambs that weighed in at 36 kilos.

They sold for the show-topping price of £102 each to show judge Ross Greenwood, who is selling them over the Easter period at his farm shop at Carleton, near Skipton.

The second prize pen of 41-kilo Texel-Suffolk-cross lambs from Mark Evans, Steeton, made £91 apiece when bought by Andrew Atkinson, of Harrogate, who also purchased the third and fourth prize pens from Robert Towers and Martin Preston, Bingley, for £70 and £68 a head respectively.
