Causeway Classic Sale Catalogue Boasts Rock Solid Genetics
2010-08-04

With less than one week to go before the Causeway Classic Sale II the catalogue continues to impress individual breeders throughout the UK and Ireland.

The Causeway Classic catalogue features rock solid genetics from world-class cow families. Taking a look through the bumper catalogue are Gold Sponsors, Brian McCarron, Genus ABS; John Martin, Holstein UK; and Keith Agnew, United Feeds. Looking on are Holstein NI officials, Gaston Wallace, Alan Cleland and John Patterson with auctioneer, Willie Wilson.

Event organiser, Alison Beattie said: ”The catalogue offers something for every dairy producer from top type, exceptional production, bull dam potential, longevity, pedigree power and most importantly, rock solid genetics. “

“Following continuous investment by Northern Ireland breeders in the most lucrative and exciting cow families, the time has come to share these exceptional genetics. We are looking forward to welcoming a large crowd to the event which takes place at the Balmoral Showgrounds, on Wednesday, August 11, commencing at 7pm.”

The event is organised by Holstein NI, in conjunction with Gold Sponsors, Holstein UK, Genus ABS and United Feeds. The catalogue features almost 30 lots, and represents 176 generations of Excellent or Very Good dams.

A host of world famous families are featured, including: Ashlyn, Amanda, Bernice, Elegant, Laurie Sheik, Raven, Rosina, Roxie, Ivory, Finesse and Maude. Leading home-bred families include Ruth, Daphne and Ethel. Many of the world’s top bulls are represented with daughters selling by Shottle, Million, Goldwyn, Toystory, Atlas, Tennyson, Planet, Bolton, Roumare, Baxter, Alexander and an early Mac.

Auctioneer Willie Wilson of R A Noble and Co said:”The Causeway Classic catalogue is studded with many stars, and features top bloodlines and cow families from throughout the world. This sale will showcase the best of Northern Ireland genetics, and gives breeders and Holstein enthusiasts an opportunity to invest in the breed’s most highly sought after families.”

A warm welcome is extended to everyone to attend the Causeway Classic. The evening event also boasts a selection of trade stands, a charity auction, and a mouth watering BBQ. Items for the charity auction include a hand-crafted wooden farm set; rural landscape painting; foot trimming package for 15 cows; cattle ET package; off-road driving experience for two people; cattle boluses; and a complete show clip. Proceeds from the charity auction will be donated to the Mandeville Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.
