Breeders by H Patton & Sons, Newtownards, Co Down, Northern Ireland are great supporters of the UK bull proving system with this their fourth bull being tested on the Visions Young Sire Testing Program at Cogent.

Razorlight’s sire is Mascol who has the ability to reduce somatic cell counts, increase lifespan, improve feet, legs and udders, and deliver very good all-round production traits.

Razorlight’s dam, is from the rock-solid Ruth family where leading UK elite proven sire Joylan Specialist evolved from. She is the hard working, long lasting Ards Juror I Ruth EX94 4E who has just completed her sixth lactation of 14,373kgs at 4.94% and 3.13% protein.  Over six lactations she has produced an average of 12,546kgs 4.4% butterfat 3.33% protein in 6 lactations.

Breeder Wilson Patton commented “the Ruth family excels in longevity obvious with over 100 Ruths’ milking within the herd. Razorlight’s dam Juror I Ruth EX94 4E is as fit as a fiddle at twelve years old and  following six calves and is very sound on her feet and legs.

Sire analyst Hugh Pocock contracted this mating and states “Razorlight is a modern cross selected to sire future longevity specialists. The Ruth family is one of the most prolific in the breed and using Mascol will complement production with long lasting cows. This unique pedigree boasts of and EX94 dam and grand dam that have produced over 100 tonnes of milk!
