Cumbria FWAG are hosting an event looking at managing set aside for environmental benefit at Aikbank Farm, Calthwaite, Penrith on Thursday 17th November 2005.

Presentations will be given by Ian Wrigley of Cumbria FWAG, John Bowman of the Rural Development Service and James Turner of Brackenburgh Estate covering:

  • Set aside management options and how to optimise benefits for wildlife and the farm business.
  • How options for the Entry Level Scheme and Higher Level Scheme can be used on set aside land.
  • Practical management of set aside.

The event is an ideal introduction for farmers having to use set aside for the first time or who are keen to make the best use of their set aside obligation.

There will also be a farm walk around Aikbank Farm looking at the various set aside management options.

The day will start at 11am and finish at 2.45pm, lunch and refreshments are provided.

This event is funded by the Rural Development Service and there is no charge, however it is essential to book a place in advance.

For further information or to book at place, please call the FWAG office on 01900 828684.
