Tyrosser Unkydory, a seventeen month old bull from local breeders Messrs MJ & TW Price of Llanafan, Builth Wells led a good quality show of Limousin bulls with a 5,500gns bid at the May Sale held at Builth Wells on Monday 16th May.

This son of Greenwell Senator was out of Summerhill Jill and paying the top price were RM & AJ Gray, Riverside Farm, Chebsey, Stafford who were looking for a bull to run with their 20 Saler and Red Devon cows.  Earlier in the day, pre-sale Show judge, Peter Kirton, Severn Lodge Farm, Kinlet, Bewdley, Worcs had placed this bull, from his class, as his Overall Reserve Champion.

The day's Overall Supreme Champion, Mynach Uproar, consigned by ED Griffiths & Co, Cilgrman Fawr, Cwmfelin Mynach, Hen-Dy-Gwyn, Dyfed went under the hammer for 3,800gns when selling to J&M Cherry, The Graig, Dolfor, Newtown, Powys. Sired by Oedipe and out of the homebred cow Mynach Jasmine this was the last Oedipe son to be offered for sale - the first dozen of which had averaged £5000.

As a whole, 17 bulls sold out of the 34 bulls forward, to a mainly commercial audience, for a solid trade of £2365.

Miss GT Thomas, Topeka, Capel Iwan, Castell Newydd Emlyn secured the third best price of the day at 3,300gns for the September 2003 born bull Cwmpedran Utherpendragon, a Cockleshell Olympus son and out of Cwmpedran Octavia. He joins L Oliver & Sons' holding at Western Slade, Oxwich, Gower.

Loosebeare United made 3,000gns for Devon breeders EW Quick & Sons, Loosebeare Manor, Zeal Monachorum, Crediton. A September 03 bull, he is by Broadmeadows Cannon and out of Loosebeare Marie and was snapped up by TL Morris & Co, Stud Farm, Knighton, Powys.

Two bulls sold for 2,400gns. Marden Uoh, presented by Wisteston Farms, Marden, Hereford sold to TJ Davies, Rhysgog, Aberedw, Builth Wells. He is an August 2003 born Marron son and out of homebred dam Marden Olovely. Bowers Vodka, the youngest bull on offer at 14 months, and weighing in at 732kg, he is sired by Ronick Hawk and out of Bowers Rita. He heads to IT Davies & Son, Danyreglwys, Garthbrengy, Brecon.

Two bulls from the Dyfri herd of DG & MJ Edwards & Son, Home Farm, Cilycwm, Llandovery secured bids of over 2,000gns. Dyfri Ulysses, sired by Safran and out of Dyfri Regina was knocked down to TF Evans,  Penoffa, Evenjobb, Presteigne for 2,050gns. Class winner Dyfri United, a Moero son and out of Dyfri Prima made 2,000gns when purchased by G Williams, Trdustan Hall, Talgarth, Brecon.

A consignment of 4 heifers from MJ Gray, Great Cellws, Crossgates, Llandrindod Wells averaged £1,036 - the pick of which being Female Champion Fleethill Unicorn who sold to K Evans, Penglanowenfach, Aberystwyth for 1,000gns.
