The Normande
breed has its origin in cattle that were brought to Normandy by the
Viking Conquerors in the 9th and 10th centuries. For over a thousand
years these cattle evolved into a dual purpose breed to meet
the milk and meat needs of northwestern France. |

Piedmontese

around the turn of the 20th Century. They are classified as "Critical" by

20 total animals, have increased since they were first rescued from
extinction in 1985. |

blacks were registered in the American Angus herdbook until 1917
when reds were barred. |
