Farmall U, which supersedes the JXU range, represents a significant progression and delivers a range of tractors that have been completely redeveloped and redesigned to meet the needs of livestock and mixed farming agricultural customers. In addition to a new cab, the Farmall U series features the latest engine technology to meet the exacting needs of modern farmers.

The new Farmall U Efficient Power series deliver increased power in all areas, including PTO and hydraulics, and are equipped with a number of valuable new features. These include a completely new 3.4 litre electronic injection common rail engine, which incorporates a wastegate turbocharger with intercooler. The rear axle has also been up-rated to enable use of 38 inch tyres.

New cab for optimum visibility and comfort

The cab and operator area of Farmall U EP has also been totally renewed and brings many significant design improvements to improve comfort, efficiency and usable internal space. These include a high visibility window integrated into the roof, improved all-round vision thanks to a larger rear window, side opening windows and a better view of the work area to the front.

Inside the cab the new design offers a number of ergonomic improvements with the most regularly placed controls sited in the positions closed to the driver. In addition the cab features a larger and more comfortable driver’s seat, an optional high-quality passenger seat, factory-fit radio and cab ventilation system incorporated into the dashboard.

As option an integrated joystick ensures ergonomic and efficient control of a front loader or other front-mounted machinery.

Externally the cab air filters are easily accessed from ground level. All tractors feature external control buttons for raise / lower of rear 3-point hitch and higher specification models also include an external pto stop / start button

Powerful and agile engine

Thanks to the new engine technology, torque increases of up to 51 per cent are achieved, enabling considerably more power to be available at lower engine speeds. Constant power is available between 1900-2300 engine rpm. The maintenance interval for the new engine is a generous 600 hours.

Effective transmissions

The ever popular 24 x 24 electronic powershuttle with two-stage Powershift and Powerclutch, familiar to JXU customers, is the standard configuration. For specialist and vegetable an alternative 20 x 20 Powershuttle is available with creeper gears.

Powerful back end

At the rear, Farmall U EP tractors provide a maximum lifting force of up to 5,400 kg via an electronically-controlled linkage that provides comfortable operation of all key functions, including float, transport lock and maximum hitch height.

PTO performance has been matched to the new power curve of the engine so that maximum power is achieved at an engine speed of 1900 rpm. This reduces fuel consumption and cuts noise levels when on PTO driven applications.

There are also a number of new hydraulic features on the Farmall EP. A low pressure circuit provide an oil flow rate of 36 litres per minute for steering, while for operating the rear hitch and PTO there is a high pressure circuit delivering 61 litres per minute. Higher specification configurable remotes are now standard and provide the ability to set and control each valve individually for flow rate, detents and hydraulic kick out.

The new Farmall U Efficient Power range can be ordered from July 2012.
