Darlington Mart again proved to be one of the leading UK primestock centres, on Thursday March 22, with top cattle prices peaking at a fantastic £2211 for a young bull weighing in at 987kg and knocked down at 224 pence per kilo.

Forward at the weekly prime stock sale was a show of 367 prime cattle consisting of 115 young bulls, 101 steers and 151 heifers. A show of 2720 sheep was forward comprising 2294 Hoggets and 436 cast sheep.
Young Bulls - met more money and a cracking trade.
Top price per kilo was 234p for a Limousin that realised £1552 consigned by JA Matten & Son Avenue Fm purchased by Cleveland Meat Company.
The lead grossing bull realised £2211 for a home bred British Blue consigned by G Beresford & Sonm, Tenley Farm and purchased by Mr G Riley.
