Selection in the Spotlight at the Dairy Event Selecting finished animals will be one of the key topics of discussion on the EBLEX stand at this year's Dairy Event and Livestock Show.
The popular EBLEX carcase wall, which provides an informative visual guide to cattle classification using large carcase images, will make another appearance, and producers will be able to refine their selection skills using the virtual selection programme. Rearing dairy bull calves will be high on the agenda, as will timely information on breeding and rationing. Producers can also find out about the marketing opportunities available for black and white bulls, and get some tips on selling their own meat directly. Clive Brown, EBLEX Senior Regional Manager for the Northern Region, said: "Dairy bull calves are an increasingly valuable commodity for dairy farmers, and need to be properly managed to make the maximum profit. "By utilising the practical, technical advice on offer at the EBLEX stand, both beef farmers and dairy farmers alike can ensure that they get the best returns from their animals."
