TFA launches major new Farm Insurance Deal at Dairy Event
20/09/05

The Tenant Farmers Association has joined forces with the Towergate Underwriting Group in a major new, national initiative to provide TFA members with specialist farm insurance which is specifically tailored to the needs of farm tenants. It is to be launched on 21st September at the Dairy Event at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh (stand 312 in cattle shed 1).

TFA Chief Executive George Dunn said: “We have been working hard to put together a package of specialist farm insurance that represents good value for money for TFA members. The TFA has had a long and successful relationship with Taunton based, farm insurance specialist Lloyd and Whyte which has for a number of years arranged farm insurance for TFA members in the South West. Now that Lloyd and Whyte is part of Towergate, for the first time, we will be able to offer a truly national service for our members. With the strength of Towergate, which also own Agricultural Insurance Underwriting Agencies Ltd (AIUA), and the expertise of Lloyd and Whyte we have put together a formidable product.”

As well as offering the full range of insurances for farm stock, livestock, liabilities and motor vehicles the TFA Policy will include automatic cover designed specifically with the tenant farmer in mind. The following covers will be included as extensions to the standard policy sections for Public Liability, Home Contents/Tenants Improvements and Farm Contents.

• Cover for legal liability in respect of tenanted farm buildings and home buildings, including decorations.

• Cover for tenants' improvements for example fitted kitchens, greenhouses etc.

• Additional cost of working (hire cover) following damage to agricultural vehicles and machinery etc up to a limit of £5,000.

• Walls, fences, gates and hedges and overhead services including telephone wires, electricity cables and pipes up to a limit of £2,500.

“TFA Members have told us that the two key issues they look for in farm insurance are value for money and good service. I know that the arrangements that we have put in place with Towergate will provide both of these together with essential protection in tune with individual needs and at a competitive price.” said Mr Dunn.

Further information for tenants can be obtained from the TFA by ringing 0118 930 6130 or by emailing clare@tenant-farmers.org.uk.
