Kendal Auction Sheep dog sale records broken

sheep dog The 9th Annual autumn sale of working sheep dogs was held on Saturday, 4th October 2003 at New Hutton, Nr Kendal by kind permission of Mr & Mrs P Ellis. 35 Working collies and pups were presented for sale by local trainers and breeders. Buyers from all over the British Isles were in attendance.

A top price of £1875 was achieved for Lot 4, Mossy, a stylish 15 month young black and white registered bitch from Tony Birkett, his excellent “Lady” being the Dam.

Second highest price of the day, £1600, went to John Ellis for his 2.5 year old dog, Jake. This handsome dog was sired by Aled Owens international supreme champion of 1999. Linda Beck’s first run on the course proved a successful one when her 15mo bitch Tasha completed the trio of lots over £1000 at £1150.

Working dogs averaged £857, with unbroken and puppies at £150, peaking at £300 for lot 12 a 3mo dog sharing parentage with Lot 4.
