Bullsemen.com Dominates as Guarini Tops Holstein List

The December 2012 DairyCo Breeding+ Holstein bull proof is dominated by bulls from Bullsemen.com, with Guarini capturing number one spot and nearly a third of the company’s bulls occupying top 100 positions.

Guarini has moved up four points from the August 2012 proof to become number one with a £PLI of +253. The Daughter Proven bull ranks highly in a number of key categories including +561kg milk, Lifespan of +0.5 and Type Merit of +2.33. Guarini also has the second highest SCC score at a very impressive -32. Fellow Bullsemen.com bull Shampoo who is also available as sexed semen, ranks just behind Guarini at – 31 SCC.

Guarini is joined in the top five by Jancenat number three and Awesome at number four. Jancen’s latest £PLI is +236. With Fat and Protein scores of +30.6kg and +22.4kg respectively, he is an ideal choice for producers for whom milk constituents is important. With a £PLI of +235, Awesome was only just pipped by Jancen. Awesome had the highest Lifespan score of +0.7. That score was shared by Genomic bull Abraham whose parentage of Jeeves X Ramos gives farmers another genetic choice.

His Feet & Legs score is now +2.37 meaning that all his three main Type composites are over +2.
