CCM Skipton Gets Set to Beef Things Up! The countdown is on to the popular annual pedigree beef season at Skipton Auction Mart, a series of three high profile midweek cattle show and sales.
First up on Wednesday, April 25, is the annual showcase for British Blue breeding bulls, cows and heifers, notable for attracting potential buyers of sires suitable for both pedigree and commercial beef and dairy herds. Also on the agenda the same day, dubbed “Blue Wednesday,” is a prize sale for British Blue-sired store cattle. The two-day Limousin fixture on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8 and 9, remains one of the annual early season highlights for breed enthusiasts. First up on day one is the Northern Limousin Extravaganza for 2011-born halter-led pedigree and cross-bred Limousin youngsters, most making their debut in the show arena. The fixture is augmented by a stock judging event organised by the North East Limousin Breeders Club, who also support the following day’s annual Spring show and sale of pedigree Limousin bulls and females. There’s also an opportunity for pre-sale viewing on the Tuesday afternoon. The beef season curtain falls on Wednesday, May 23, with the Ling Fields Beef Cattle Fair, the annual multi-breed show and sale of pedigree beef breeding cattle, supplemented by a late Spring sale of breeding bulls. There are show classes for both bulls and females, with potential vendors asked to note that only halter-led cattle will qualify for the exhibition arena. Entries close on Monday, May 7.
