Zetor Increase Revenues by 46%
2012-04-27

This year started well for the Zetor Group, the traditional Czech manufacturer of agricultural machinery – in the first quarter it reported revenues of over 1 billion CZK, which is a growth of 46% compared to the same period in the previous year.

The consolidated earnings before tax in the first quarter of 2012 increased from one million to this year's 49 million crowns. The positive trend may be ascribed to a major contract for the import of tractors to Iraq, but also to demand on traditional markets such as Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. According to Zetor representatives, the outlook for the forthcoming period is also promising, due to the noted revival of demand.

“The first quarter of this year was very positive for us. We perceive the increased demand for our tractors across the entire product range, whereas the share of tractors with higher performance has growth, which is reflected in the higher margin,” says Petr Veselý, Financial Director of ZETOR TRACTORS, a. s. “Apart from rising interest in our tractors abroad, we have also noted increased interest on the domestic market, which makes us very happy,” adds Veselý.

Increased demand for Zetor tractors may be ascribed to the gradual increase of investments and human labour into research and development with the aim of introducing innovative elements as quickly as possible into serial production and thereby to the end customer. It is the continual development of research and development that is one of the company's basic long-term objectives. “We are striving for the purchase of Zetor brand agricultural equipment to be a smart choice for our customer, that will substantially ease their work and save costs,” says Marián Lipovský, Deputy CEO and Production Director for ZETOR TRACTORS a.s.

For this year, Zetor has prepared several novelties. The first of these is the Zetor Forterra HSX model, which the company presented a few days ago at the TechAgro trade fair in Brno. In autumn, agricultures can look forward to a new model of the small compact tractor.

The most important successes noted in the first quarter on the specialised scene include an award for last year's novelty HitchTronic, which was granted the gold medal at the AgroTech international trade fair held in Poland, where Zetor has been the market leader in recent months in the 60 – 140 HP performance category. HitchTronic is a unique technological function, thanks to which the tractor automatically adapts to the terrain itself.
