Stobarts Charolais Sell to 5,600gns

Charolais sold to a top of 5,600gns in Carlisle on Friday 19 August when David and Marjorie Stobart dispersed their Brampton based Stobarts pedigree herd.

Sale leader at 5,600gns was a cow and calf pair. Stobarts Alison TI +34, SRI +40, a six year old by the 11,000gns Perth junior champion, Thrunton Scania daughter and sold in calf to Thrunton Vulcan made 3,400gns to A and J Clark, Blindcrake, Cockermouth, while her 10 month old heifer, Stobarts Fabulous by the 13,000gns Woodpark Bishop was secured for 2,200gns by Alasdair Houston, Gretna Green.

The herd’s second highest call of 5,500gns went to one of the herd’s stock bulls Thrunton Envoy TI +34, SRI +31, a two year old by the 22,000gns Newhouse Bigal and out of a Thrunton bred dam going back to Maerdy Location. The buyer was Andrew Fisher, Portpatrick, Stranraer.

Next at 3,800gns was the cow and calf pair Stobart Bliss TI +24, SRI +27, a five year old Bassingbourn Sangria daughter and her 10 month old heifer, Stobarts Fliss by the 28,000gns Goldies Champion. The pair sold for a split 1,900gns bid and both were knocked down to TA Jones and Son, Dryslwyn, Carmarthen who took home 12 lots in total.

Also selling for 3,800gns was the homebred Stobarts Firtree TI +30, SRI +32, a 13 month old bull by Woodpark Bishop and out of a Bassingbourn Sangria sired homebred dam attracted. The buyer was JA Forster, West Hall, Brampton.

Two cow and calf lots were bid to 3,500gns each. First to go was Stobarts Utah TI +27, SRI +32, a Chathill Meteor daughter and out of an Ellern bred cow offered with Stobarts Flute, her 10 month old heifer by Woodpark Bishop. Utah went for 1,400gns to the Jones family, Dryslwyn, and her calf 2,100gns to G Steenson, Castleblayney, County Monaghan.

The second 3,500gns pair was the Sangria sired Stobarts Allspur and her nine month old heifer, Stobarts Firefly by Goldies Champion. Allspur was knocked down sold for 1,700gns to GG and HE Sevenoaks, LLwyndu, Abergavenny while Firefly made 1,800gns to VAS and SM Corbett, Felindre, Knighton.

The 18 month old Stobarts Flake TI +34, SRI +40 led the maiden heifer section with a 3,500gns call from RDA Morrow, Coleraine, County Derry. Another Woodpark Bishop daughter, she was out of a homebred dam going back to Bassingbourn Sangria.

Stobarts Dignity TI +30, SRI +42, a three year old heifer by Burradon Talisman made 3,000gns to H and J Patrick, Portfield Gate, Haverfordwest. She was sold with Stobarts Gorgeous, her three month old heifer by Woodpark Bishop.

Averages: 55 cows and heifers served and/or suckling £2,116.24; 12 served heifers £1,815.67; 17 maiden heifers £1,746.12; four stock bulls £2,927.00; eight young bulls £2,084.25.
