The 2016 recipient was renowned Holstein breeder, Alister Laird of Blyth Bridge, Peebleshire and winner of the 2016 Borderway UK Dairy Expo Champion of Champions with Holstein cow Illens Atwood Australia.

John Dennison, who farmed at Scales Farm in Ulverston, was highly regarded in the industry as the breeder of the Denmire Holstein Herd on the 1000 acre family farm in Cumbria.
