Stockman's Accomodation gets a Facelift

The Royal Welsh showground’s stockman’s accommodation, Neuadd Henllan, has benefited from a beautiful facelift.

Chosen as the 2014 Radnor feature county project, the guesthouse has been extended and renovated, now boasts a new bar, restaurant and conservatory area. Officially opened by Mrs Rhian Duggan, last year’s president, on Monday 20 July, the new-look facilities can not only be enjoyed throughout the show and other society events, but all year round to visitors to the area.

“Our feature county and county advisory structure forms the backbone of the society’s success and the ‘gold-dust’ that sets us apart from many other societies” says Steve Hughson, Chief Executive of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.

“Last year Radnorshire’s incredible fundraising efforts reach a massive £279,000 which has been used to significantly improve the on-site accommodation here on the showground. We are committed to continually improving our iconic site and the feature county system is a key element to this and we remain indebted to the effort that the feature counties go to each year to raise money for the society.”

Neuadd Henllan enjoys a commanding view of the showground and surrounding countryside and now offers comfortable accommodation and good food, which is complemented by efficient, professional service at value for money prices.

Some of the rooms have recently been upgraded to a very high standard, offering en-suite facilities. The 2 twin rooms and 2 single rooms that have been renovated provide an excellent level of comfort with their own private televisions. The remainder of the accommodation comprises 18 twin-bedded rooms and 7 four-bedded. These rooms are all centrally heated and have washing facilities, shaver points and wardrobes. Shared shower facilities are also available.

The dining room operates a self-service system full breakfasts, lunches and evening meals can be provided by arrangement. The meals are best described as “good Welsh home cooking with provisions supplied locally” and a limited bar is also available.
