Quality OTM cattle maintained recent high rates, peaking at 143.5p for an OTM heifer from J. Wilson & Son, New Farm, Beattock, closely followed by 140.5p for a Limousin cow from Messrs Rutherford, Bleatarn. Other leading price per kilo 128.5p, 125.5p and 119.5p J. Wilson & Son.

A much larger show of 4,125 prime lambs sold to an average of 169p per kilo on par with all other centres this week as many more lambs pour onto the market. Too many lambs in the 37-42 kilo bracket were marketed too lean, just because they are weight does not mean they are fat. Well fleshed lambs were much easier cashed. Lightweight lambs continue to sell at recent high rates. Top of 220p per kilo for Texels from Kirranrae and to £96 per head for Texels from Kirkton.
