Record Averages for Bala Sheep Dogs

The Spring Sale of working sheepdogs at The Rhiwlas Estate, Bala proved to be a very successful day with a large crowd of potential buyers witnessing record averages for the dogs forward.

The sale proved very successful for Doug Lambie from Llangwm, Corwen with two entries, sold his first dog Omega Cap which gave a fine demonstration with his sheep and sold for 5,200gns to N Watkins of Llangadog, Omega Cap is by J E Lightfoot’s Cap and out of D G Lightfoot's Nell and is a very classy dog.

Doug Lambie’s second lot was a 17month old bitch Tara by D Lambie’s Craig and out of P J Blains Floss, which also gave a wonderful demonstration and was sold for 5,100gns to S Gormley, Ireland.

Emrys Jones from Talybont also gave a fine demonstration with his 23month old bitch Glan y Groes Mona, which is by G Graham’s Larkhill Ben and out of I Caroll’s Tilly, and sold for 4,900gns to Kevin Evans of Brecon.

Also in the running was Llion Harris’s Preseli Del a 26month old keen bitch by P Williams’s Sweep and out of L Harris’s Cwmadog Bess which sold for 3,200gns to N Watkins of Llangadog.

Demand was strong throughout the sale with good quality working dogs forward with a 90% clearance, being probably one of the best sales held at Bala.

Working dogs sold from 500gns to 5,200gns to average £2,374.00

Young dogs sold from 300gns to 1,000gns to average £597.00
