C&D Strengthens the Team at Dumfries Mart

Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart plc (C&D) has announced two new appointments at its Dumfries Mart to support the company’s growth plans for the marketing of livestock in south west Scotland.

Andrew Goldie of Newbie, Annan has joined C&D as a trainee auctioneer; having previously served his “apprenticeship” with Lawrie & Symington at their Lanark Mart, Andrew will be focussing on the sourcing of livestock from a wide geographic radius with Dumfries at its centre.

Kate Macdonald of Port William, Newton Stewart has been appointed as C&D’s field officer; Kate will be assuming specific responsibility for the development of long term customer relationships with, and the sourcing of livestock from, the farming communities to the west of Dumfries and as far across as the Whins of Galloway.

Commenting upon these two appointments Harry Begg, C&D’s senior auctioneer at Dumfries Mart said: “Having identified the potential to grow our livestock market operations in south west Scotland, the recruitment of Andrew and Kate will play a key part in our commitment to provide the livestock producers in our area with a first class service and a competitive outlet for the sale of their stock”.

Trevor Hebdon, C&D’s Managing Director added: “Andrew and Kate have tremendous pedigrees when it comes to their knowledge and understanding of livestock; they will be real assets to our business and they will be joining a small, but highly regarded, team at our Dumfries Mart as we strive to provide an even better service to the farmers of south west Scotland”
