A world class Brown Swiss granddaughter of the renowned American cow Old Mill Snickerdoodle EX94, the record-breaking winner famed for her victories at the World Dairy Expo, held annually in Madison, Wisconsin, is going under the hammer. It’s the first time an Old Mill Snickerdoodle granddaughter has come to auction in the UK.

Commenting in advance of this special sale, Glyn Lucas, Harrison & Hetherington’s Senior Pedigree Dairy auctioneer, said: “We’re really excited to have a Snickerdoodle granddaughter at the Black & White sale – it’s always special when our sale is graced by an absolute legend.”

“This annual high quality sale provides a unique opportunity to select bloodlines from the world’s greatest cow families, the animals that will help shape the future of the Holstein breed.  The consignments are testament to the high regard the sale is held in among the top dairy breeders in Europe.

A number of unique opportunities bred from North American top class bloodlines will also be among the 80 quality lots in the sale at Borderway. They include the very first offering in Europe from the three time Royal Winter Fair Grand Champion Thurlane James Rose EX97 sired by Explode. Plus a Braxton granddaughter of former Madison and Royal Winter Fair Champion, Eastside Lewisdale, Gold Missy EX95.

This is a good time to invest in elite dairy genetics, due to rising global milk prices and an ever increasing demand on diary produce from both the UK and global markets.

Harrison and Hetherington have already had considerable interest from genetic companies in Europe and North America in the animals entered for this year’s sale.

As Glyn explains: “The sale has majestic investment opportunities that have the potential to propel your breeding programme to new heights, and to create exciting new marketing prospects within your herd.  If you have any questions on the heifers selling or would like to receive a catalogue please contact the pedigree office.”
