The Jersey Island Celebration Sale of Pedigree Jerseys

The Jersey Island Celebration sale of pedigree Jerseys from the Island saw buyers travel from Wales, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, East & West Yorkshire and all over the Westcountry to secure the opportunity of buying quality Island genetics.

Four of the Island’s leading breeders consigned an exceptional group of Jersey freshly calved and In Calf Cows & Heifers and it was certainly the fresh milk which met strong demand!

Top of the sale was 1650gns for “Prides Sultan Lotus VG87” a super second calver by Sultan bred by Paul Houze and consigned by La Ferme LTD, she now joins the Rivermead Herd.

Not far behind at 1600gns (£1680) was “Elite SJ Griffens Lynn Lady” by Griffens Governor from the renowned Lady family from John & Sarah Le Feuvre’s excellent Elite herd, she sold to Graham Armitage of West Yorkshire who purchased 10.

Rob and Tom Perchard of La Ferme consigned an exceptional group of fresh calvers and sold others to 1550gns (£1627) for “Ansom Action Bandangle GP82” by Forest Glen Avery Action, having calving in August she sold giving 30Kgs to Messrs WE Love & Son of Dorset.

Others from the same home sold to 1400gns (£1470) for “Ansom Impuls Sybil” a Q Impuls daughter tracing back to Linden Hall Sybil, one of the most influential cows in Ansom’s breeding history.

Also at 1400gns (£1470) was “Day Dream 301 GP83” a Valleystream Julian daughter from John & Sarah Le Feuvre, she sold with a strong pedigree backed with 7 generations of VG or EX behind her and was due in January to On Time, she sold to Malcolm and Anne Huxtable for their Sowden Herd.

The same vendors also sold “Designs Day Dream 153” a smart daughter of Action which classified GP83 and sold fresh at 1380gns (£1449) to Graham Armitage.

Ricky Leith sold the best of his consignment at 1280gns (£1344) for “Chalet Exciting Mielle GP84” a second calver by Bridon Excitation.

The In Calf heifers met a more selective trade with buyers wanting instant return on their purchases. The best rose to 1150gns (£1207) twice for Paul Houze with In Calf heifers from his Prides herd, first to do it was “Prides Exciting Brownie” sired by Bridon Excitation, she was due in December and sold to Roy and Christine Baily for their Abbotsley herd in Derbyshire.

At the same money was a spring calving heifer from Paul, “Prides Victorious Sybil” by Prides Isis Victoir, she was due February onwards and sold to John Heath of Hull.

The same vendor sold another February calving heifer “Prides Reagan Queenie” by Rapid Bay Reagan at 1050gns (£1102), she sold to Roy Baily of Derbyshire.

The same buyer also made a sound purchase at 1050gns (£1102) for “Elite Sultan Noblesse 3” from John & Sarah Le Feuvre, this super heifer by SHF Centurion Sultan won her class in the Island show in June and sold due in January to Reagan.

The Island sale finished well with five exceptionally well bred maiden heifers from John and Sarah Le Feuvre which sold well to 850gns (£892) for “Elite Aimless Lady 227” by Action and she sold with a solid pedigree of 8 generations of VG or Ex behind her to Derek Mead of Weston-Super-Mare for his newly established herd.

Not far behind at 800gns was “Elite Aimless Lady 226” sired by Futuredreams Signature Volcano EX94 out of an EX92 grand dam, she sold to David & Lena Lewis of Wiveliscombe.

“Elite Sultan Daisy Belle” a July born Sultan calf sold well with 7 gens of VG or EX behind her to the Futuredreams Partnership of James and Barry Evans of Pembrokshire.

Other entries of Jerseys sold to 1280gns (£1344) for “Richtop Impuls Algae” a freshly calved Impuls daughter from David & Lena Lewis of Wiveliscombe.
