Kramer Mini Telehandler Replaces Skid Steer Loader

Following the loss of a skid steer loader to thieves, Hall Farm near Reading has recently taken delivery of a Kramer mini telehandler to carry out a multitude of cleaning, feeding and handling tasks in confined spaces thanks to its compact dimensions and 4-wheel steering system.

Supplied by local dealer Southern Harvesters, the Kramer 1245 was chosen for its combination of all-round visibility, manoeuvrability and driver friendliness.

The machine now forms part of the farm’s extensive fleet of equipment, is being used seven days per week and is already proving to have been the ideal choice for tackling the required tasks.

Hall Farm is home to 600 cows producing some 5M litre of milk each year and, commenting on the arrival of the 1245, the dairy unit manager said: “Besides being highly versatile, the Kramer can pretty much manage 80% of the jobs carried out by our large telehandler, which is impressive for such a small machine.”

Powered by a 22 kW (40 hp) Yanmar diesel engine driving all four wheels via an hydrostatic transmission, the 1245 offers all the benefits of a traditional Kramer telehandler such as a lateral engine position, all-wheel steering and centrally located boom arm, but in a package measuring just 2.92 m in length and 1.56 m in width. Despite these ultra-compact dimensions, the machine offers an impressive ability to lift 1200 kg to a maximum height of 4.30 m.
