The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 34 prime cattle, 21 young bulls, 24 over thirty month cattle, 4,234 prime lambs and 3,700 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 15th August 2013.

Prime cattle were a much plainer show for quality and saw trade similar on the week.  Top price to 253.5p for a Limousin bullock shown by J.C. & D. Nicholson & Son, The Gill, then closely followed at 252.5p from A. & W.J. Taylor & Son, Dashwellgreen.  Charolais heifers sold to 226.5p from K.W. Coulthard, Low Hallburn.

More vendors of young bulls forward to meet another good trade, although a shortage of good under 16 month old bulls meant buyers were left short of requirements.  The sale was topped at 224.5p and 223.5p for Limousin bulls from J.F. & S.J. MacDonald, Ladyhousesteads.
