USA's Most Popular Bull Massey Tops US Holstein Sale

Massey daughters continue to make the headlines for their high value in the sales. A $185,000 price tag was achieved for the heifer Farnear-TBR-BH Case Caite who topped the Farnear Focus On The Future Sale.

The Massey heifer was the highest lot of the sale, where 112 lots achieved an average sale price of $15,470. Bred from the Cosmopolitan family the heifer gained a high level of interest prior to the hammer falling. Caite is the highest GTPI heifer by a daughter-proven bull in North America, giving her a score of +2505 GTPI.

Recognised for his diverse bloodlines, Massey was given the accolade of International Outcross Sire 2012. His current TPI score of + 2239 puts him in the top 5 bulls in the USA. This combination has made Massey one of the most popular bulls in the US, having the highest number of registered calves at the start of this month.

“There is no surprise that a bull of this calibre produces such high quality daughters. This Mascol son descends from the exceptional Yadda family” says Nick Kirby – Managing Director of Bullsemen.com.

“The daughters offer impressive health traits that are combined with a high PLI score of +198 and overall conformation of + 2.49. This fits the requirements of a large selection of farmers”.

First marketing in the UK as a genomic bull in January 2009 Massey’ Type score was +2.50. Now with 1,700 daughters in his proof he has maintained the high figure scoring +2.49 in the April proof run this year.
