Initial contributions to the fund will be made from sales of the World Jersey Cattle Bureau’s ‘The Dairy Queen’, a recently published history of the Jersey breed worldwide and proceeds from the prize draw of a heifer calf, Ribblesdale Lix Alison.

Alison comes from the Ribblesdale herd of Ian and Sally Macalpine, who have generously donated her. The herd is one of only two Jersey herds ever to win the RABDF Gold Cup. Alison’s dam is Classified EX90 and has produced over three-and-a-half tonnes of butterfat and protein in five lactations. She will make her public debut at the Livestock Event in July.

“It is an enormous honour for us that we will preserve the memories of the Jubilee celebrations through our Youth Trust,” explained Matt Pye, chairman of UK Jerseys Youth. “We look forward to using the funds to educate and enthuse young people about the merits of the Jersey breed.”
