Zetor Tractors Reports Profitable 2012

2012 was an extraordinarily successful year for the Zetor Group, one of the top Czech producers of agricultural equipment, as it achieved consolidated profit before taxation to the amount of 284 million Czech Crowns.

According to management at Zetor Tractors, in 2012 the traditional Brno-based tractor manufacturer managed to continue advancing economically as has been the case in recent years, especially thanks to the increase in sales due largely to launching of  the new Forterra HSX model  as well as due to sales results in the segment of traditional models of tractors and spare parts.

“In 2012, we recorded a significant improvement of key indicators. Consolidated income of the Zetor group reached the level of 4.4 billion Czech Crowns which increased by 800 million Czech Crowns compared to 2011 and so by almost 24 %.The indicator for creating operational cash flow, the EBITDA, increased by more than 200 million Czech Crowns up to 541 million Czech Crowns and consolidated profit from sales before taxation amounted to 6.5 % whereas in 2011 it was 3.5 %,” stated Petr Vesely, Financial Director of Zetor Tractors a.s.(Inc.) “We expect that the audited economic results will not significantly differ from the preliminary results, we expect to receive a  statement from the auditor in the middle of April,” Vesely adds.

As for product news, the last year was dominated by the Zetor Forterra HSX model, serial production of which was began in June 2012. Until the end of year, 405 pieces of this model were produced, meaning that the original estimations were met.

Besides traditional markets such as the Czech Republic, Poland, USA, Scandinavia, Lithuania and Great Britain, the most important destinations for Zetor Tractors included Bulgaria, Algeria, Serbia and Iraq. 92 % of Zetor Tractors made in 2012 were sold abroad.

Zetor group representatives are also anticipating positive development in 2013. “These expectations have also been confirmed by the level of interest in our tractors until now” says Marian Lipovsky, Deputy Executive Director and Production Manager of Zetor Tractors a.s.

“The main trump of this year should be the new Zetor Major model which we launched in November last year” adds Lipovsky. Zetor Major is a smaller compact tractor especially designed for owners of small and family farms.

It stands out in terms of is the price/output ratio and follows in the footsteps of a model going by the same name which was considered to be one of the most successful tractors in the brand’s history. Its serial production will be started in February whereby the company is anticipating production amounting to approximately 900 units by the end of the year.
