Limousin Centre Record At Aberdeen Equalled

Buchaam Gigantic secured the leading price of 7,000gns for Limousin bulls at Thainstone (Aberdeen) on Wednesday, February 27th 2013, matching the breed centre record set by the same consignor Messrs C & E Ogg, Buchaam Farm, Strathdon at the corresponding sale last year.

An Ironstone Bomber son and out of Buchaam Christina, a Walkers Travada daughter, the April 2011-born Buchaam Gigantic was knocked down to Ian Wilson, Torphins.

This annual multi-breed show and sale of pedigree beef bulls was held by Aberdeen & Northern Marts as part of the Royal Northern Spring Show. Trade overall was in line with last year with 20 bulls averaging £4,005.

The Oggs maintained their firm grip on the Limousin centre record having previously also held it with the 6,800gns Buchaam Dazzler in 2010 and then the 7,000gns Buchaam Funambule in 2012. With other bulls selling at 5000gns, 4000gns and 2600gns they grossed just shy of £20,000 for their four bulls here at Thainstone. At 5,000gns was Buchaam Gambit, another son of the 2008 Balmoral Limousin and Interbreed Champion, Ironstone Bomber, and this time out of Buchaam Countess, a Ramses daughter.

Second leading price came in the shape of the 6,000gns price tag for Dumbreck Glenlivit from D Work & Son, Mains of Dumbreck, Udny, Ellon. By the noted 42,000gns sire, Wilodge Vantastic, and out of the Broadmeadows Cannon daughter, Dumbreck Roxette, this May 2011-born bull heads to E & S Jaffrey, Banchory.

Selling for 5,500gns was Aultmore Giggs from G Hendry, Heads of Auchinderran, Keith, Banffs. Born in April 2011, Aultmore Giggs is a son of the 10,500gns Casimir and is out of Greenwell Dynasty, a Vagabond daughter. Purchasers were W&V Leith, North Crannoch, Crossroads of Grange, Keith.
