Minutes earlier, the Taylors were in the money when another Neopet son, this time Ochtermuthill Radolf was knocked down sold for 1,100gns to Messrs Inverdunning, Blairlogie, Stilring, while the same flock’s next lot, Ochtermuthill Rab by Glantre Nova, went for 750gns to Messrs Buchanan, Muthill, Crieff.

Next at 700gns was Culsh Rinkobink, a shearling ram from J and J Mclean, New Deer, Turriff. Sired by Lugate Nostalgic and out of a homebred ewe, he went home with Messrs Cheape, Glenfarg, Perthshire.

First lot in the ring was Mortons Ramadanman, a shearling from Andrew Morton, Lochend, Denny. An Arda V/D Duvels Vleeskupe son and out of a homebred dam going back to Culsh lines, he made 680gns to Messrs Davie, Denny, Stirling. He was followed by Ramadanman’s twin Mortons Ramadan secured for 650gns by Messrs Dunn, Touch, Stirling.

Andrew Morton’s success extended to the female lines where he took home the silverware. He sold the day’s overall champion and leading female, Mortons Ruby, a gimmer by Beachy Norman and out of a homebred dam going back to Culsh lines. She made 500gns to Messrs Maclean, Scarinish, Isle of Tiree who also forked out 400gns for the overall reserve and reserve female champion, Mortons Ribena, another gimmer this time by Buckles Morgans Spiced and out of a Forglen bred ewe.

Leading shearling entry from Strathaven based William Lennox was Netherholm Robert, a Buckles Morgans Spiced son and out of a Puleston bred dam. He was knocked down sold for 600gns to Messrs Angus, Mey, Thurso.

Averages: 26 shearling rams £505; 2 ram lambs £190; 8 gimmers £344; 3 ewe lambs £210
