The averages in every section were up on the year across all sections at the Lleyn Sheep Society Sale of registered sheep at Carmarthen Livestock Market on Thursday 13th September 2012.
1st prize shearlings sell for £250
There was a strong demand for ewes with a 100% clearance. WJ & DJ Williams had the only entry in the older ewes selling their 3 year olds for £140/head. In the yearlings the top price went to Helen Wells for the 1st prize shearlings selling at £250/head, whilst other notable prices were Lionel Organ who sold two pens for £235 & £230 whilst Dewi Ellis sold his pen for £225/head. The second place shearlings from John George made £218/head and the third place pen from Wynne Davies made £215/head.
The ewe lamb section was also strong with half of the lots sold for over £100/head. The top price went to T & J Rees at £128/head. J & R Twose made £125/head for the second prize pen followed with D & C Morris selling for £120/head. WJ & DJ Williams sold their first prize pen for £118/head. Richard Marshall realised £115head for the third prize pen in the non MV section.
There was another 100% clearance on the rams forward. Top price of 1120gns went to WJ & DJ Williams for their second prize ram. The first place ram from Helen Wells sold for 800gns and the third prize ram from Wynne Davies making 600gns. Other notable prices were E & D Jones 540gns & 500gns, D & C Morris and Lionel Organ 520gns.
There was a crowd around the sale ring for the duration and there were several commercial buyers returning to this annual sale full of praise for previous purchases.
