Kuhn will demonstrate a 4.5 metre hydraulic folding model from its Venta NCR pneumatic drill combination range at Tillage Live 2012, a machine that folds in transport to a compact 2.85 metres.
The new Venta NCR drill
Seedbed preparation is carried out by Kuhn’s HR 1004 series power harrow (folding), suited to tractors up to 250 hp. With a 1,600 litre rear hopper capacity and the Seedflex coulter bar included – plus the option of additional cultivations on the tractor front linkage - this creates a high output combination that is both accurate and versatile.
Kuhn’s patented Seedflex coulter bar – launched in recent years and now a feature on many drills in the range - is equipped with double discs offset on the parallelogram. Large-diameter press wheels achieve ground pressure up to 45 kg per unit, thus ensuring uniform seeding depth and good seed-to-soil contact even at high seeding speeds.
The new Venta NCR drills include Kuhn’s Quantron S facility coupled to an electric cell wheel drive to provide full seeding control. This allows variable seed rate and allows up to 200 field records to be stored in the memory, including the variety seeded, application rate, date of seeding, and so on.
Sitera mechanical seed drill
Kuhn will show the Sitera mechanical seed drill power harrow combination at Tillage Live 2012, a recent addition to the company’s combination seeder range. Available in 3 and 4 metre formats, the mechanical drill can be used in combination with Kuhn’s HRB 303, HR 100 or HR 1000 series power harrows.
Seeding depth is governed by the packer roller, which is advantageous when drilling in stony conditions and eliminates the need to make adjustments when altering the cultivation depth.
As with new Venta NC and LC pneumatic drills, Moduliner and CSC 6000 drills, the Sitera has Kuhn’s Seedflex coulter bar, with double discs at a 12.5 cm or 15 cm spacing and integral depth control and press wheels. The Sitera is therefore suitable for conventional or min-till drilling.
The single wheel Multi-Leader making its debut at the event
Multi-Leader extends Kuhn semi-mounted plough range
Kuhn will demonstrate the latest addition to its semi-mounted reversible plough range at Tillage Live 2012 with the single wheel Multi-Leader making its debut at the event.
Positioned as a high output machine for medium to high power tractors and available in 6, 7 and 8 furrow formats, the Multi-Leader covers the 135 – 300 hp tractor power range, and – with a 110 degree turning radius – has great manoeuvrability on headlands. All models are available with multiple working widths (35, 40, 45 and 50 cm per body). The Z-frame design means there is very little wheel overhang during work at field edges and also allows the potential to fit wide tyres of up to 1,200 mm diameter, thereby offering good carrying capacity.
The Multi-Leader has a large offset range, with the adjustment made by sliding the drawbar to change the wheel spacing between 1.15m and 1.6m. Working depth adjustment is set simply by using spacers on the lift cylinder at the wheel. Underbeam clearance is 80 cm and point-to-point clearance 102 cm.
All models of the Multi-Leader are available with a choice of either Traction Bolt (T) or Non-Stop Hydraulic (NSH) safety system.
The Multi-Leader extends a semi-mounted plough range that already includes the Vari-Timer, Manager, Vari-Manager and Challenger models, suitable for tractors from 80 to 420 hp, with the Challenger available at up to 12 bodies. Kuhn’s fully mounted reversible plough range includes the Multi-Master and Vari-Master models, suitable for tractors from 60 to 280 hp, from 3 to 7 bodies.
Tillage Live takes place on Wednesday 3rd October at Westfield, Haddington, East Lothian, EH41 4HQ.
