The event will feature a tour of the Ballantrae based estate taking in the suckler herd, the extensive sheep operation and the estate’s recently established grass based dairy herd.

Presentations will be made SAC beef specialist Gavin Hill, estate manager Charlie Russell, Morrisons’ Andrew Loftus, and NFUS vice president Allan Bowie.

Glenapp Estate was the winner of the inaugural Morrisons Beef Shorthorn Suckler Herd of the Year, judged by SAC beef specialist Gavin Hill who commented: “Charlie initially addressed the high fixed costs which majorly impact profitability of suckler herds, which gave Glenapp the edge over the other finalists. His system maximizes output while reducing costs; initially he appraised the land type and its capabilities followed by making the correct choice of cattle breed.”
