Kuhn introduced a three metre direct drill to its SD pneumatic seeding range at Cereals 2012.
Kuhn SD Liner 3000
The SD Liner 3000 - combining the compact and versatile triple disc system that is well-established on other SD models with the company’s successful Venta pneumatic seed distribution mechanism - is designed for drilling into uncultivated or stubble-ploughed land, or into cover crops. The SD 3000 has a 2,500 litre hopper capacity with a relatively low loading height of 2.2 metres.
The SD’s triple disc system comprises an opening disc and two drilling discs, with optimum distance between the two to ensure accurate seed placement into the cut slot.
Opener discs are available as indented (fitted as standard and suited to trashy or compacted soils) or rippled (cuts a wider slot and suits clean soils). Staggered layout of the opener discs and generous under-beam and longitudinal clearance minimises the risk of blocking, even in the trashiest conditions. The hydraulic drawbar allows the opener disc pressure to be adapted according to the conditions, up to a maximum of 250kg.
Each pair of drilling discs is independently mounted on a parallelogram frame and exerts a coulter pressure of 70 to 80kg; this ensures accurate ground following and good penetration, to maintain drilling depth across the width of the machine in varying conditions.
The Venta pneumatic seed distribution system operates in a seed rate range of 0.8 to 400 kg/ha at working speeds of up to 15 km/hr.
The SD Liner is priced from £39,542.
