Longtown Primestock Sale
2011-12-16

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 42 prime cattle, 26 over thirty month cattle, 7,436 prime lambs and 8,100 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 15th December, 2011.



Longtown cattle ring

Prime cattle a shade easier but vendors still gaining respectable returns. Top price to 214.5p for a Limousin heifer from Messrs J. Bell, Brydekirk Mains with British Blue bullocks to 206.5p from A. Irving, Toppin Castle purchased by W. Kirkup & Sons, Longtown.

Longtown sheep ring

A larger show of 7,436 prime lambs sold to a full ring of buyers with trade levelling at 204p per kilo, with the SQQ weight range averaging 205p per kilo in line with this weeks trend.
