Overall, 36 heifer calves averaged £2,315 with 14 bull calves making £1,785 apiece. The Weaned Calf Sale followed on from the Red Ladies Sale earlier in the day and, together, the two sales grossed £222,227 combined.

Hafodlas Glesni 6,000gns

1.	Hafodlas Glesni 6,000gns

Leading the entry was the heifer calf Hafodlas Glesni from AH & GW Roberts, Hafod Las, Ysbyty Ifan, Betws-Y-Coed which made 6,000gns when selling to CM Edwards, Bryn Rodyn, Llangaffo, Anglesey, North Wales.  Entirely homebred, the March 2011 born Hafodlas Glesni is by the Bailea Spunkie-sired Hafodlas Domino and is out of the Saphir daughter Hafodlas Betsan.

The following lot, Hafodlas Gwenda, who is also by Hafodlas Domino and out of the Saphir-sired Hafodlas Berrys, made 5,000gns when purchased by the Brockhurst Herd of WJ & M Mash Ltd, Torrington Farm, Grove Lane, Chesham, Bucks.  Making it a tidy hat-trick, the next lot in, Hafodlas Gwen, then made 5,500gns.  This January 2011 born heifer is by the 16,000gns Anside Diageo and is out of Trigwr Cilla.  Purchasers were MR & VA Smith, Caseberry Farm, Copydown Lane, Bradninch, Exeter for their Columbpark prefix. Overall, 8 heifer calves from Hafodlas averaged £3,570 in what was the final part of a major reduction for the herd.
