Leading the way was the June 2009 born heifer Sarkley Edajen who was purchased for 30,000gns by D Sawrij, Allerbeck Farm, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie for the establishing Swalesmoor prefix. Sarkley Edajen is by the noted sire Ronick Gains who has previously sired the 28,000gns Sarkley Arriana. Edajen is out of the Haltcliffe Ullswater daughter Sarkley Adajen. Farm Manager, Iain Campbell, commented: “The Sarkley herd has a reputation for producing females which go on to breed well and this purchase was made for the foundation of a Limousin herd to run alongside 30 pedigree Charolais cows and a 300-strong commercial herd.” A total of 5 Sarkley heifers were purchased for the Swalesmoor prefix and Sarkley Edajen was sold carrying a Beef Value of LM+40 and PD’d in calf to Ampertaine Commander.

The previous lot, Sarkley Ellajen, made 17,000gns when selling with a Beef Value of LM+49 to the Bassingfield pedigree herd of JL Crofts, Holme Farm, Bassingfield Lane, Gamston, Notts. June 2009 born, Sarkley Ellajen is by the French AI sire Ionesco and is out of the Mas Du Clo daughter Sarkley Vollyjen. Described as one of the best females in the herd, Sarkley Vollyjen has previously bred the 13,000gns Sarkley Dynamic. She was sold served by the 42,000gns Haltcliffe Ullswater.

At 13,500gns was the July 2010 born Sarkley Fayme. This young heifer is by the prolific 42,000gns Wilodge Vantastic and is out of the Sarkley Golddigger-sired Sarkley Maggie. Purchasing Sarkley Fayme was W Barron, Morrow Edge Farm, Burnhope, Co Durham for his Barrons pedigree herd.
