The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 87 Prime cattle, 11 Young bulls, 39 OTM cattle, 2404 Spring lambs, 1866 hoggs and 3923 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 14th June, 2007.

Top price of 137.5p for a Limousin bullock from A & W J Taylor & Son, Dashwellgreen and purchased by Messrs Nattrass, Butcher, Carlisle, others to 131.5p, 129.5p, 127.5p Hallburn, 126.5p Dashwellgreen. Charolais bullocks from Brownchesters to 127.5p to M Wharton, Blackbrow, Galloway bullocks from Baron House to 113.5p to W Kirkup, Butcher, Longtown.

Limousin heifers to 136.5p, 135.5p, 133.5p, 131.5p, 130.5p Dashwellgreen, Charolais 123.5p Wickethorn. Hereford bulls 108.5p, 107.5p Enzieholm, Belgian Blues 107.5p Becton Hall, Limousin 106.5p Laws Hall.

OTM cattle met a similar trade. Otm steers sold to 104.5p for Charolais from Brownchesters, 96.5p Willowhill, Simmental 91.5p Willow Hill, Otm heifers 98.5p for Charolais from Brownchesters, Limousin 91.5p Upperburnmouth.

Charolais cows to 82.5p, 79.5p Clement Leazes. Friesian 77.5p. 73.5p Holme Foot, Hereford 65.5p Upper Glendivan, Limousin 82.5p, 77.5p Bennettsfield.
The spring lambs were forward in larger numbers, quality was very good and trade was as good as expected with all buyers keen to buy. Top was £58.90 for Texel x from W L Musgrave & Sons, Cardew Hall, Suffolks £57.80 Englishtown, £57.20 Baldocks Lane, £57 Cardew Hall. Charollais £54.30 Baldocks Lane, Beltex £53.90 Mouldy Hills, Halfbreds £47.70 Pennine View. Top price per kilo was 135.3p for Suffolk x from Sykehead, the overall average was 123p.

Light lambs were forward in large numbers and were in demand. Top was 135.6p for Texel from Ballyclare and Copperthorns, to average 120p overall. Top price per head was £46 for Texels from Drumcork, £44.90 Gill, £43.70 Longrow. Suffolks £42.90 Hallburn, £42.70 Copperthorns, £42.20 Cowcorse, Beltex £44.80 Copperthorns, Cluns £41.70 Copperthorns, Blackfaces £33.20 Woodslee.

Prime hoggs were another large show for the time of year. The best meat was easiest sold. Top was £44.80 for Blackfaces from Sykehead, others to £44.50 Northgreenhill, £43.20 Sloda Hill, £43 Sockbridge Hall. Top price was 105.9p for Texel x from Sykehead.
Light hoggs sold to £34 for Texel x from Dunjop, others to £32 Criffel View, £31.80 Newport. Top price per kilo was 100p for Texels from Criffel View.

A similar show of cast ewes and rams were forward with lean ewes similar, overfats were cheaper on the week. The average was £39.37.

Top was £72.50 for Texel rams from Stackbraes, Suffolks £57.50 Tobemore, Bleu de Maines £64.50 Newry, Cheviots £53.50 Roadside, Rouges £54.50 Tobemore, Charollais £49.50 Roadside, Swaledales £36.50 Brampton Fell.
