Kuhn Launches Cover Crop Seeder At Cereals 2006
11/05/06

A cover crop seeding unit for use in combination with Kuhn’s stubble cultivator range is to be launched by the company at Cereals 2006.

The SH comprises a seed hopper, metering roller and an electrically driven pneumatic seed distribution system with eight outlet hoses. It can be fitted retrospectively to Kuhn’s Optimer and Mixter stubble cultivation ranges, as well as to the Discover discs.

Two metering rollers are available, for small and larger seeds. These can be changed quickly without tools, and a variator that controls the rotation speed enables easy and precise adjustment of seed quantity. The metering unit is driven by a skeleton wheel that ensures an even seed density at varying working speeds.

A double electric blower that is controlled from the tractor cab propels seed through the distribution hoses. Each hose is fitted with a regulator plate that ensures even distribution of seed across the full working width of the machine.

The SH has a distribution capacity of up to 25 kg/ha for a 6 metre working width at 10 km/hr. Hopper capacity is either 150 litres (SH 150) or 400 litres (SH 400).

KUHN ADAPTS LIGHT SOIL CULTIVATOR FOR USE WITH PLANT RESIDUES

Kuhn is extending its CD combination tine harrow range with the launch at Cereals 2006 of a version for use where significant plant residues are present.

As with the original CD launched in 2005, the CDM is designed for use in light chalky-loam soils in combination with Kuhn’s Venta pneumatic and Integra mechanical drills, as an alternative to a power harrow.

The CDM tine cultivator comprises two rows of trailing tines designed to allow the passage of plant residues, and Kuhn’s Packer roller as standard. The machine is available in 3 metre (CDM 300) and 4 metre (CDM 400) working widths.

The CDM is compatible with most of Kuhn’s power harrow equipment, including track eradicators and alternative roller options. A robust hitch frame, which is identical to those fitted on Kuhn power harrows, gives the machine the design for intensive use.
