New Trials Confirm Milk Yield And Fat Boosting Properties Of Palatable C16 Fatty Acids

Dairy cow rations containing a highly palatable 100% protected fat product based on increased levels of C:16 fatty acids can boost individual cow milk returns by around 40 pence a day.

That's according to new trial data from the US, which shows that introducing 500g per cow per day of Energizer-RP10 protected fat raises dry matter intake, boosts individual cow milk yield by around 3 litres/day and lifts butterfat by nearly 0.5%.

"Cows receiving the Energizer at the University of Idaho increased milk yields by 3.1 litres per day when compared with an unsupplemented control group," reports Dr Alan Reeve from C&H Nutrition. "In addition, the milk had a significantly higher butterfat concentration - 3.93% compared with a control of 3.44%. There was no adverse effect on milk protein level."

Dr Reeve says this trial feedback from the States is consistent with independent European studies and shows that milk producers can expect both a butterfat uplift and yield response when Energizer-RP10 is introduced to the ration.
