Gatcombe takes delivery of 2000th Claas Lexion combine

New Claas Lexion 600 takes combining to new output levels

Three new additions to the CLAAS 2006 combine line-up
17/08/05

For the 2006 harvest, CLAAS customers will have the benefit of three new combine models to choose from. In addition, the existing LEXION and MEGA ranges have been subject to a number of specification enhancements.

New models
The three new additions to the CLAAS combine range for 2006 provides something for everybody. At the top of the range, there is the new LEXION 600 (covered in a separate release) which with a seasonal capacity of around 4,000 acres is potentially the highest output combine in the World.

Lower down the acreage scale, the new LEXION 570+ has the capacity to clear up to 2,500 acres a season, whilst the new MEGA 370 will be suitable for growers looking for a straightforward combine capable of clearing up to 1,200 acres of crops.

Greater power
In addition to the new models, the existing LEXION range has been subject to a number of changes, in particular to engine power with, to paraphrase - one 'Going Down; seven 'Non-movers” and eleven 'Going up'.

LEXION 570+
The new LEXION 570+ model has been introduced to provide an alternative, higher powered model with an output greater than that of the previous LEXION 480 Evolution.

Compared to the existing LEXION 570, which has a 427hp engine and is capable of clearing between 1,400 and 1,800 acres a season, the higher capacity LEXION 570+ has a 445hp, engine giving it the ability to clear between 1,800 and 2,500 acres a season depending on cropping and location.

In addition to its greater power, the higher specification of the LEXION 570+ is geared to helping the combine cover this greater area and so includes features over and above the LEXION 570, such as the CLAAS ROTO-PLUS threshing rotors with VRS, Grainmeter and the Power Spreader chopping system.

LEXION updates
The existing LEXION range has been subject to a number of updates.
To provide greater power for increased performance, especially when using a straw chopper or when working on hills, ten models in the range benefit from an increase in engine power.

In addition to these engine changes, all LEXION 510 to 560 models are now fitted with an updated straw chopper which is easier to clean and adjust, but also incorporates redesigned swath rakes which leave a cleaner finish and narrower swath for baling.

On the LEXION 580 the concaves on the APS threshing drum have been amended so that they are less prone to dirt build-up, and also now comes as standard with the new longer 8m discharge spout as used on the LEXION 600. This is also available as an option on the LEXION 570.

MEGA & MEDION changes
The new MEGA 370 is broadly based on the existing MEGA 350 and 360 models, which incorporate many elements of the threshing system found on the LEXION range, such as the APS primary threshing drum, but without a lot of the electronic sophistication such as CEBIS.

The new MEGA 370 is powered by a 279hp engine and has a 8,200 litre capacity grain tank which is similar to the MEGA 218 which was one of the top selling models in the CLAAS range 10 years ago.

In addition to this new model, all MEGA and MEDION models feature a new multi-function lever which gives the operator single-lever control of the forward speed, direction, cutterbar, reel, spout in/out and grain discharge.
