Expert Panel Lined Up For “Question Time” At Beef Expo
25/05/05

A six-strong panel of beef industry experts will provide a fitting climax to the UK's national beef showcase, Beef Expo 2005, at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, Powys, on Wednesday, June 8.

The hour-long “Question Time”, commencing at 3.30 p.m., is always one of the most popular events of the day and will give beef farmers the opportunity of challenging the expert panel.

Several thousand beef farmers from all over the UK and Ireland are expected to attend the annual event which is being held in Wales for the first time. Features of Beef Expo will include livestock exhibits, practical demonstrations, a comprehensive seminar programme, stockjudging competitions and almost 100 trade stands.

The panel, under the chairmanship of Edward Owen, Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, will include leading beef farmers and representatives of industry organisations.

The six members of the panel are -

  • John Dracup - producer club manager, St Merryn Meats
  • Aled Edwards - beef farmer and chairman, British Limousin Cattle Society
  • Robert Forster - chief executive, National Beef Association
  • Wyn Jones - Anglesey beef finisher and past-chairman, Welsh lamb and Beef Promotion
  • David Lewis - auctioneer, beef farmer and president, Royal Welsh Agricultural Society
  • Duncan Pullar - beef and sheep technical manager, Meat and Livestock Commission

Earlier in the day, Mr Lewis will also officially open Beef Expo 2005. The official opening ceremony will take place at 11.00 a.m.
